thoughts on the church..

I believe that in so many ways there is no easy answer in life to the problems that we recognize in the world around us or even within our own circles. Although I do believe that the first step in dealing with those problems is to recognize them, once they are realized something needs to be done about them. On that same note, the church today in some ways is to slow to talk about some things and to accepting of what ever they are told, but there can also be the opposite problem of talking about a lot of issues but never really saying anything at all. Churches today need to be willing to innovate within their own tradition. At the same time, we as ministers need to be willing to not make our churches become something that they are not. There has to be a line between revolution and still working with the parameters set before you.
In other news, there is also a line between excellence and crappyness in the way that we go about church. When does it become too much and when are you just lowering your standards and not living in excellence. I believe God calls us to excellence and some churches ignore this fact, while other ones seem to take their “excellence” to the point of unhealthy extravagance.
